While my business is in Canada, I do have many customers in the USA. Here’s how the current tariff situation applies to your order as of today, August 24.
- Until now, reeds and parts for musical instruments have been covered under CUSMA. It’s slightly more complicated and a little more expensive for me to do the necessary paperwork than it was before the suspension of the De Minimus last year, but reeds are essentially tariff free.
- The latest round of Trump tariffs apply regardless of CUSMA but do not include woodwind instruments. They do include brass instruments, instrument cases, and many other products.
- Even though reeds do actually contain brass, they are traded under a category of goods which is still tariff free and your order won’t be affected.
- Some of my reed-making tools are now subject to American tariffs, and I have adjusted the prices displayed to include this. So the price you see is what you should expect to pay.
- Other countries, especially Europe, haven’t changed their trade policies toward Canada but do still have their own tariff policies. These haven’t changed. If you’re ordering from outside Canada and the USA, the price you see at the checkout won’t include any taxes or duties.
